Jody Byrne
Dr Jody Byrne is an award-winning communication designer specialising in technical communication and has authored two key books on technical translation. After starting his career as a technical translator and writer, he completed a PhD in technical communication and usability before teaching technical translation at Dublin City University and the University of Sheffield. He now works as a media design expert at SAP as part of the SAP User Enablement unit, where he develops innovative new storytelling methods to communicate technical information. He also writes and produces videos on various aspects of technical communication for the Experimental Communicator website.

Daniel Dejica
Daniel Dejica, PhD, habil., Professor in the Department of Communication and Foreign Languages and Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Politehnica University Timișoara. PhD supervisor, affiliated to the Doctoral School of Humanities, West University of Timișoara. Director of the Center for Advanced Translation Studies within Politehnica University Timișoara. His didactic and research interests include translation, discourse analysis, intercultural and interlinguistic communication. He was part of the Doctoral Studies Committee of the European Society for Translation Studies (2009-2018). He coordinates the Translation Studies series within the Politehnica Publishing House, the Professional Communication and Translation Studies international conference, and is part of the editorial or scientific boards of numerous scientific journals. Together with Muguraș Constantinescu and Titela Vîlceanu, he coordinates A History of Translations in Romanian, a series of volumes published by the Publishing House of the Romanian Academy.
Ramunė Kasperė
Ramunė Kasperė is Professor, Principal Investigator of the research group on Language and Technologies and Vice-dean for Research at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities of Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania. Within Translation Studies, her research interests include machine translation, post-editing, translator competence, and translation project management. She is also working on topics of AI-based digital writing tools, technopedagogy in languages, and eye tracking methodology. She is editor-in-chief of Studies about Languages and has been involved in research projects on the impact of technologies in society as well as in international networks on research in crowdsourcing techniques for language learning and eye tracking methodology. She has over 20 years of professional experience as a translator and language editor.
Istvan Lengyel
István Lengyel is an economist and a translator by training. What started as a way to earn some money during his university studies, translating Microsoft Press books from English into Hungarian, turned out to be a life changing experience: he's never worked in any other industry since. He started three companies, an automated workflow-based translation agency in 2001 (which never picked up), Kilgray, which turned into memoQ later, in 2005, and his latest venture, BeLazy in 2019. He started his PhD in translation studies at the ELTE University of Budapest in 2004, and got his doctorate in 2014. He also worked for other companies: MorphoLogic, an NLP company between 2003 and 2005, On Global, a language service provider between 2017-2018, and did several workflow consulting projects on behalf of Nimdzi Insights.
Loredana Pungă
Loredana PUNGĂ is Professor of linguistics and translation studies in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the West University of Timișoara, Romania. She holds a PhD in Philology from the university where she currently teaches. Her publications include books such as On Language and Ecology (2006) and Words about Words: An Introduction to English Lexicology (2011), book chapters in thematic volumes and over fifty articles, most of them published abroad. Loredana Pungă is (co)-editor of three volumes published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing and member of the editorial board of three academic journals with wide international reach – Studies about Languages, British and American Studies and Translationes. Loredana Pungă has been a PhD supervisor in philology since 2016.
Kirk St.Amant
Kirk St.Amant is a Professor and the Eunice C. Williamson Chair in Technical Communication at Louisiana Tech University where he serves as the Director of Louisiana Tech's Center for Health and Medical Communication (CHMC). He is also an Adjunct Professor of Health and Medical Communication with the University of Limerick in Ireland and a Research Fellow in User Experience Design with the University of Strasbourg in France. His research focuses on usability in international health and medical contexts, global health literacy, and developing health and medical products patients in different cultures can use easily and effectively.

Agnes Kiss
My name is Ágnes Kiss and I am a Hungarian born in Romania passionate about translations, books, hiking and philosophy. And, naturally, I am a big fan of Timișoara, my hometown, European Capital of Culture in 2023. Having studied German and English intensively from high-school all the way to college, I have a linguistic background backed up by the most comprehensive translation studies that I was lucky to be able to pursue at UPT, followed by a great deal of practice in the field of translations thanks to the opportunity I was given by Continental when I was offered the chance to start a translation service 20 years ago by the company I am still working for and represent today, Continental Automotive Romania. I am blessed with a great and dedicated team that helps me deliver great results by providing translation services of the highest quality to the colleagues and projects that need our support. Annmaria Kilyeni
Annamaria Kilyeni, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Communication and Foreign Languages, coordinates the Translation and interpreting BA study program at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Politehnica University of Timişoara, Romania, where she teaches Terminology, English for Specific Purposes, English Grammar and Translation Practice. She is also a member of the Center for Advanced Translation Studies within Politehnica University. She holds an MA in Terminology and Translation Studies, and a PhD in English Linguistics from the West University of Timişoara, Romania. She has researched and published regularly in the fields of terminology, ESP, applied cognitive linguistics and discourse analysis, and she has been part of several national and international research projects. She currently coordinates the Politehnica University research team involved in the Terminology Without Borders project of the Terminology Coordination Unit at the European Parliament.

Dana Szabados
A freelance translator since 1996, Dana is a graduate of the Polytechnic University of Timișoara. She translates from English and French into Romanian, mainly in the technical, ESG, marketing, and lifestyle fields. Dana is a Lead Auditor for Quality Management Systems, she has education and expertise in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of quality and environmental management systems and consults on business negotiation, having a strong interest in multicultural and gender-based negotiation. She is a strong believer in CPD and networking. She is a member of several professional translators' associations.
Carmen Toma
After having started her career as an undergraduate translator of documentaries for Discovery and Animal Planet while studying languages at the University of Bucharest, Ms. Carmen Toma got her master's degree in Translation and Conference Interpreting and started working mainly as a freelance interpreter, including within the framework of several PHARE pre-accession programs as Romania was preparing to become an EU Member State. She became a translator/linguist with the Council of the European Union in Brussels during 2006-2014. For a brief, but intense period, she worked as a Protocol Officer for Council Presidents Van Rompuy and Tusk. In 2017, Ms. Toma became the DG Translation Field Officer at the European Commission Representation in Romania, promoting the EU policies in the linguistic fields. As of April 1st 2023, she returned to full-time translation at the European Commission's headquarters in Brussels.
